The 2008 Damallsvenskan was the 21st season of the Damallsvenskan. Matches were played between 6 April and 18 October 2008, with a break due to the football at the 2008 Summer Olympics. Umeå IK won the title for the seventh time overall, and fourth time in a row. Umeå therefore became the second team to win four consecutive titles, after Älvsjö AIK. Umeå's seventh title meant that Umeå had won as many Damallsvenskan titles as Älvsjö. Their defence started well when Umeå beat Linköpings FC on the opening day.^[1]^[2]^[3]^[4]

Umeå Södra FF and Bälinge IF were relegated at the end of the season. Umeå Södra were newly promoted, but Bälinge had been in the Damallsvenskan since 2006. Kristianstads DFF were the second team promoted at the start of the season, and they finished the Damallsvenskan in ninth place.^[5]
