They were commissioned by Rockstar Games in 2015 to create the first, public, in-game video using the new Rockstar Editor suite included with the launch of Grand Theft Auto V on PC. The video was then featured on the Rockstar Games official newswire and has since received over 1 and a half million video views on YouTube. They have been called the "8-Bit wizards" by the Washington Post. Appearances in other mediaSince their launch in 2013, 8-Bit Bastard has been featured by Kotaku[1] and other gaming news outlets,[2][3] such as VG247,[4][5][6] Polygon,[7] The Verge,[8] IGN,[9] GameSpot,[10] and on the Rockstar Games official newswire[11] – all of which have featured their content on multiple occasions.[12][13][14] PC Gamer has also interviewed one of its former members, Sonny, mentioning 8-Bit Bastard in its identification of him.[15] The Independent[16] and the Inqusitr have also featured their content.[17] Backed by Stockholm Pride, a video was created by 8-Bit Bastard in a collaboration with other YouTube channels about a Grand Theft Auto V gameplay modification (mod) titled "Los Santos Pride".[18] The mod has been described by PC Gamer with the purpose of allowing players to "celebrate Pride on the faux-LA streets in a display of colour, togetherness and unity."[18] The Washington Post has featured their content in an article published on 14 July 2014, in which the Washington Post called them the "8-Bit wizards" in reference to the machinimas and other content that they create.[19] Rockstar Games commission "Running, man"8-Bit Bastard was commissioned by Rockstar Games[20] in early 2015 to create the first in-game video recorded and edited with the brand new Rockstar Editor suite, included in-game with Grand Theft Auto V PC edition.
