Ada Zevin (Ada Mironovna Zevina, born 3 september 1918, Chișinău - d. 23 september 2005 id.) was an artist from Bessarabia, of jewish origins. She was part of the reformed painters generation of the romanian art school (graduate of the Belle Arte Bucharest Academy). She was inspired by post-expresionism, french and romanian art, creating original masterpieces by combining modern, classical, and traditional means of expression.

Ada Zevin was born in Chișinău, in a family of jewish teachers. During 1925 - 1937 she completed her secondary education at the ”Jeanne d'Arc” Lyceum from Chișinău, and in 1938 she enrolled at the Belle Arte Faculty in Bucharest, in the class of proffesor Francisc Șirato, together with the following artists, Dimitrie Sebastian, Mihail Grecu, and Fira Brick. In 1940, after the annexation of Bessarabia by the Sovietic Union and passing of the antisemitic bills in Romania, Ada Zevin returned to Chișinău, to continue her studies at the Republican School of Arts, in the class of  Auguste Baillayre (1879 - 1961) and of Max (Moisei) Gamburd. In 1941, after the World War II began, she was evacuated to the Autonomous Republic of Kalmîk, and then in Georgia, where she taught drawing in a high school.

After the war, Ada Zevin returned to Chișinău to resume her studies at the Republican School of Arts. She then studies at the State Art Institute ”V.I.Surikov” in Moscow (1947-1949) and continues her studies at the State Institute ”I. E.Repin” in Sankt Petersburg (1949-1953), which she graduated with a Magna Cum Laude diploma.

From 1953, Ada Zevin carries out scientific activity, publishes articles and studies on art, artistic patrimony, and traditional artistic creations. In 1953 - 1975 she teaches Art History at the Republican School of Arts, Chișinău. In 1956 she becomes a titular member of the Artists’ Association and participates at numerous art exhibitions in the country as well as abroad. In 1998, Ada Zevin becomes Knight of Order of the Republic (Moldova).

Ada Zevin’s works are part of public and private collections in Australia, Bulgaria, Canada, Denmark, Russia, Israel, the Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Ukraine, USA, Sweden.
