Alberto López-Jaureguizar Poncela (Bilbao, 1939-Gecho 1982).[1] is a victim of ETA's terrorism[2]. He was a proxy for a Tobacco Company. He ranked number 2 on People´s Alliance's list by Vizcaya in the General Election of 1979.[3] BiographyMurderAlberto López-Jaureguizar Ponce was married and had four children. He had been working in the tobacco company for more than 25 years, where he became to be appointed proxy. He was killed in Gecho (Biscay), on 16 July 1982, when he was 42 years old. Alberto used to attend funerals caused by terrorism and place the Spanish flag with a black crape in his house when they killed a police officer[4][5]. He had affiliated with People´s Alliance two weeks before his murder when he was leaving his home, in the District of Algorta, around 8:10 hours on 16th of July,1982. He was about to check his car before he went to work since later, he had planned to move his family to an apartment for the summer time[6]. At 9:05 hours, after getting on his vehicle, a young man approached his vehicle through the left-hand window and shot him two shots. These two only shots reached him in the back. All the signs pointed to the death was instantaneous. The murderer was accompanied by two other people. Once they committed the murder, they left at high speed in a stolen car. The trade employees nearby the scene warned the police via telephone of the facts from an establishment near the site of the attack. Minutes before 9:30, police officers from Gecho's station and Guardia Civil arrived at the scene of the crime. About 10:30 a.m., the judge ordered the lifting of the corpse and the transfer of the same to the forensic deposit of the Sanitary Residences of Cruces, Baracaldo[7]. The car used by the terrorists in this attack was stolen on the same day in Larrabasterra, municipality of Sopelana. The vehicle was taken when the owner was heading to work around 7:45 hours. Two individuals approached him in his garage provided with a bag and flaunting to carry a gun on them. The car's owner was gagged and handcuffed before being warned not to give notice of the robbery until a certain period has elapsed. The vehicle would be found in perfect condition by Municipal Police of Gecho at 5:00 a.m. on the day following the attack. There is no conviction whatsoever for this attack. According to the Ministry of Peace and Coexistence of the Basque Government, the procedural situation of the murder is on provisional dismissal[8] The newspaper Egin affirmed on July 20, 1982, that ETA military had been attributed the authorship of the assassination of Alberto López-Jaureguizar through a statement. Although, these facts have not yet been judged. In 2010, José Lorenzo Ayestarán Legorburu, aka Faneca, was arrested in the French town of Cahan[9]. This ETA's member was charged with the assassination of Alberto López-Jaureguiza, even though he has not been judged for it.[10][11] See also
