Alexandre Roumenov Loukanov is a Bulgarian scientist, university teacher, and artist.

He was born in 1981 in the town of Berkovitsa, where he attended at the Forestry High School. Alexandre Loukanov has graduated a Bachelor‘s degree (B.Sc) in Chemistry in 2003, and Master‘s degree (M.Sc) in Organic chemistry in 2005 at Sofia University "St.Kliment Ohridski" in Bulgaria. In 2009, he has acquired a Ph.D degree (Doctor of Philosophy) in "Biochemistry and physiology" at Okazaki Institute for Integrative Bioscience located in Japan, and in 2017 a D.Sc degree (Doctor of Science) in "Systems and Devices for Environmental Protection" at the University of Mining and Geology "St.Ivan Rilski" Sofia, Bulgaria.

Scientific Career

During the period 2008-2010, Alexandre Loukanov has done postdoctoral research at the University of California, Berkeley, USA, Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski", Bulgaria and Saitama University, Japan. Since 2012, he is an associate professor at the University of Mining and Geology "St. Ivan Rilski", Sofia, and from 2014, he is an Associate Professor at Saitama University, Japan.

In addition, since 2016, Dr. Loukanov is giving lectures as an adjunct professor at world-famous universities as the State University of New York (SUNY) and the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences,(UAMS) USA. Outside of the university, Dr. Loukanov is a member of the European Nanoscience and Nanotechnology Association,^[1] (ENNA) and the American Chemical Society. ^[2] So far, Dr. Alexandre Loukanov has published over 100 original scientific reports in prestigious and international journals or conferences, as well as, he has acquired over 200 citations registered in SCOPUS^[3]. Dr. Loukanov has published also four textbooks for undergraduate and graduate students. His research interests are in the field of the applied nanotechnology and nanomachines.

Art

Apart from his scientific and teaching activities, Loukanov is also an artist. He has painted the interior of his office in the university and he has numerous paintings in various art genres^[4]
