It is an ISO 14001:2004 and ISO 9001:2000 certified company engaged in the business of manufacturing a range of fine chemicals, based on related chemistry. It enjoys a distinction of developing technology for the manufacture of sodium metal for usage in fast breeder nuclear reactors for power generation.^[2]

History

Alkali Metals Limited was founded by Late Dr. Y. V. S. S. Murthy. It was initially started as a joint venture with Andhra Pradesh Industrial Development Corporation Limited in 1968^[3] but in 1986 Alkali Metals Limited got complete operational and management control after APIDC exited from the joint venture.^[4]
