Almanac are a German symphonic metal band, founded by guitarist Victor Smolski, after his departure from Rage in 2015. The aim of the new band was to produce such a music, which was also intended for Rage's Lingua Mortis Orchestra, with an eponymous album released in 2013.

From this project Smolski has recruited the Orquestra Barcelona Filharmonia with Enric Garcia on keyboards, and singer Jeanette Marchewka, and includes for male vocals David Readman from Pink Cream 69 and Brainstorm's Andy B. Franck. Michael Kolar on drums and Armin Alic on bass made the band complete.

The new band debuted on the Musikmesse Frankfurt (Frankfurt Music Fair), and released its first album Tsar on 18 March 2016.[1] at Nuclear Blast Records. It reached the charts in Germany and Switzerland and was nominated in the category "Best Debut" worldwide at the Metal Hammer Awards 2016. A rapid opportunity made the first tour possible in the weeks following the release, supporting Orden Ogan.

The first headliner tour took place in February 2017 together with the German bands Gloryful and Lichtgestalt. Shortly before the recording of the second album, Kingslayer, Alic and Kolar left the band. They were replaced by bassist Tim Rashid and drummer Athanasios "Zacky" Tsoukas. The album was released on 24 November 2017.

In January 2018 Franck has also quit, to focus more on Brainstorm.[2], followed by the departure of Readman in July. Their replacement has become Patrick Sühl, who was introduced together with the band's third drummer Marc Dzierzon.
