[1][2][3][4] HistoryAmber was founded in 2013 by Dragos Hancu,[2][5][6] (a former executive from Electronic Arts Romania) with the goal of creating a major independent Romanian game development company. The initial focus of the company was on providing engineering services to enterprise partners, which gradually expanded to comprise all other game development disciplines. In 2014, Amber secured its first major creative deal, with Disney Interactive, for the full development of a puzzle game called Cinderella Free Fall, releasing simultaneously with Disney's Cinderella feature film. An additional business unit was created, covering Quality Assurance and Customer Support.[6][7][8] In 2016, Amber started development of its first original IP, a puzzle game called Link Twin. That year Amber’s staff first exceeded 200 people and the company moved into a new office. A spin-off studio called Lorraine was also created to work on Amber’s original IP products[9], as well as an incubator for video game startups, called Carbon.[10] In 2017, {{ill|Mihai Pohonțu|ro}}, formerly an executive at Samsung and Electronic Arts, joined Amber as CEO, and the company was reorganized as a network of studios, with a growing focus towards product development. Lorraine was merged back with Amber, as part of the new strategy.[2][8] Later that year, the company was selected by the Bucharest Stock Exchange to be part of a campaign called "Made in Romania" which included 50 promising Romanian companies.[11] In 2018, the company established Amber Labs, which, according to Amber's website, is "an applied innovation group overseeing technology and tools development", as a means to position Amber as an innovation partner for the companies it interacts with. In that year, the company released Rumble Heroes on mobile platforms, a real-time PvP multiplayer game published by Rogue Games. StructureAmber is structured as a network of fully-owned studios (Lorraine, Avalon and Amber Live Ops), each having a different specialization. Two other business units cover the development services offered by Amber: Custom Development, specializing in co-development, and Development Support, comprising Quality Assurance, Quality Engineering, Customer Support, Community Management and Localization.
