The American Blackshirts Party is a political party founded by Joshua Noyer in late 2012 as an alternative to the racism and anti-semitism located on the far-right. The goal was to use the model of fascist italy as a template from which to build an organization which would appeal to a larger, more diverse audience than previous manifestations of American fascism

History

The original structure of the party consisted of a leadership committee along with state officers. Given the small size of the movement, these positions were mostly unfilled or staffed by a revolving door of members. Up until 2015, the membership size was no more than 30 members. However, at this time, the scope of the party began to grow along with the quality of membership, future party leader John Maniglia joined, and it was decided by the leadership to restructure the party to make it work more effectively. The emphasis was taken off state party structures and put onto regional divisions to make sure every member had an officer other than the Chairman that would provide them assistance and accountability. This was coupled with an added emphasis on the quality of material put out by the party. The party’s periodical Fascist Struggle, which up until this point was distributed sporadically, was now sent out on a monthly basis to members, along with news on the party’s activities more emphasis was given to fascist history and literature.

The first few years of the party’s existence was characterized by a wide geographic dispersion making personal activism rare and relegating the party for the most part to its social media pages. This began to change in 2017. Party members demonstrated outside of the Republican Party’s convention in April of that year and in October in Denver Colorado a larger group did the same. 2017, also saw the creation of the party’s first podcast show Blackshirt Blues which consisted of hosts Ian Davis, Anthony Drummond, and technical expert Jesse Drummond. The show was characterized by discussion of contemporary issues, and featured interviews and segments with party members.[2]

Activism

Activism increased both in size and scope the following year as newly appointed Deep South Regional Director Matthew Hines conducted events in both Jacksonville, FL and Mobile, Alabama. John Maniglia now the Regional Director of the Midwest held an event in Chicago, Illinois. 2019 saw the members of the American Blackshirts Party for the first time participate in the March for Life. The most recent change for the party includes the replacing of Blackshirt Blues with the Fascist Roundtable[3], while including a similar format it engages a wider variety of guests and topics
