Dr. Amin Amini previously known as Amin Amini Maghsoud Bigy is an Iranian computer scientist and inventor.[1]. Dr. Amini has developed several computational algorithms in medical and healthcare applications, especially for Parkinson’s disease [2][3][4][5]. His PhD research work [6] at Brunel University London resulted in the development of a novel unobtrusive system for monitoring Parkinson’s disease patients’ gait cycle as well as the improvement of patients’ locomotion during a Freezing of Gait (FOG) incident [7]. He has achieved his BSc. in Computer Science: Network Computing and MSc. in Data Communication Networks also from Brunel University London. Moreover, Amin has contributed to several medical and healthcare technologies with regards to automatic fall detection [8][9][10][11][12]. In his latest interview with Parkinson's UK with regards to his latest achievement, which led to the design of a low-cost monitoring system for Parkinson's disease patients based on Microsoft Kinect sensor [5], Amini quoted: “We chose the Kinect because it doesn’t require people to attach any sensors to their bodies so it’s very practical. The other advantage is that because the technology is already so advanced it was reasonably simple and very cost-effective to repurpose it – our prototype cost just £137 to build." Amini has published several conference papers and journal articles in the field of computer science and electrical and electronic engineering and is currently a member of the editorial board for the Journal of Rehabilitation Research [13] References1. ^{{Cite web|url=https://www.brunel.ac.uk/news-and-events/news/articles/novel-kinect-system-helps-keep-parkinson's-patients-moving|title=Novel Kinect system helps keep Parkinson's patients moving {{!}} Brunel University London|website=www.brunel.ac.uk|language=en-GB|access-date=2018-11-22}} 2. ^{{Cite web|url=https://ieeexplore.ieee.org/abstract/document/7146727|title=Recognition of postures and Freezing of Gait in Parkinson's disease patients using Microsoft Kinect sensor - IEEE Conference Publication|website=ieeexplore.ieee.org|language=en-US|access-date=2018-11-22}} 3. ^{{Cite book|last=Amini|first=Amin|last2=Banitsas|first2=Konstantinos|last3=Cosmas|first3=John|date=May 2016|title=A comparison between heuristic and machine learning techniques in fall detection using Kinect v2|url=https://bura.brunel.ac.uk/handle/2438/13290|journal=2016 IEEE International Symposium on Medical Measurements and Applications (MeMeA)|language=en|publisher=IEEE|doi=10.1109/MeMeA.2016.7533763|isbn=9781467391726}} 4. ^{{Cite web|url=https://ieeexplore.ieee.org/abstract/document/7897228|title=A new technique for foot-off and foot contact detection in a gait cycle based on the knee joint angle using microsoft kinect v2 - IEEE Conference Publication|website=ieeexplore.ieee.org|language=en-US|access-date=2018-11-22}} 5. ^1 {{Cite news|url=https://www.parkinsons.org.uk/sites/default/files/2018-10/CS3006%20Progress%20Autumn%202018%20WEB.pdf|title=Progress|last=Amini|first=Amini|date=2018|work=Parkinson's UK|access-date=}} 6. ^{{Cite thesis|last=Amin|first=Amini,|title=Using 3D sensing and projecting technology to improve the mobility of Parkinson's disease patients|date=2018|publisher=Brunel University London|url=https://bura.brunel.ac.uk/handle/2438/16216|language=en}} 7. ^{{Cite journal|last=Amini|first=Amin|last2=Banitsas|first2=Konstantinos|last3=Young|first3=William R.|date=2018-05-23|title=Kinect4FOG: monitoring and improving mobility in people with Parkinson's using a novel system incorporating the Microsoft Kinect v2|journal=Disability and Rehabilitation: Assistive Technology|language=en|pages=1–8|doi=10.1080/17483107.2018.1467975|pmid=29790385|issn=1748-3107}} 8. ^{{Cite news|url=https://medicalxpress.com/news/2015-04-hacked-kinect-game-changer-parkinson.html|title=Hacked Kinect controller game changer for Parkinson's|access-date=2018-11-22}} 9. ^{{Cite news|url=https://blogs.msdn.microsoft.com/ukhe/2015/05/12/brunel-university-using-xbox-kinect-to-improve-the-mobility-of-parkinsons-patients/|title=Brunel University – Using Xbox Kinect to Improve the Mobility of Parkinson’s Patients|work=Microsoft UK Higher Education Blog|access-date=2018-11-22|language=en-US}} 10. ^{{Cite news|url=https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2015/04/150430082712.htm|title=Hacked Kinect controller game changer for Parkinson's|work=ScienceDaily|access-date=2018-11-22|language=en}} 11. ^{{Cite web|url=https://ourparkinsonsplace.blogspot.com/2015_05_03_archive.html|title=Our Parkinson's Place|website=ourparkinsonsplace.blogspot.com|language=en|access-date=2018-11-22}} 12. ^{{Cite news|url=https://www.itproportal.com/2015/04/30/new-kinect-controller-could-game-changer-parkinsons/|title=New Kinect controller could be a game-changer for Parkinson's|work=IT Pro Portal|access-date=2018-11-22|language=EN-GB}} 13. ^{{Cite web|url=http://ojs.bilpublishing.com/index.php/jrr/about/editorialTeam|title=Editorial Team|website=ojs.bilpublishing.com|language=en-US|access-date=2018-11-23}} Amin Amini |
