Aminatou Ahidjo is the youngest daughter of the first president of the Republic of Cameroon, Ahmadou Ahidjo.[1]. Born on February 19, 1966 in Yaoundé[2], she is a lawyer, political scientist and political communicator[3]. She has since June 29, 2016 been appointed chair of the board of directors of the Palais des Congres de Yaoundé

Biography

Childhood and education

She is the daughter of President Ahmadou Ahidjo and Germaine Ahidjo, and the youngest of a family of 3 children, having sisters Babette Ahidjo, Aissatou Ahidjo and two consanguine brothers Mohamadou Badjika Ahidjo and Daniel Toufick[4]. She had a turbulent childhood between several trips and relocation due to the resignation of her father as president of the Republic of Cameroon on November 6, 1982. This instability did not allow her to finish her various academic courses[1].

From 1975 to 1995; she graduated from the Institute of Advanced International Studies and International Relations of Paris, the Catholic University of Friborg Switzerland where she obtained a DEUG in sociology and a master's degree in law. She obtained her Literary Baccalaureate from the Lycée Général Leclerc in Yaoundé before the exile of her parents in Senegal[5]

Professional and political life

From 1996 to 2013: She did a professional internship in journalism for 3 years in the animation daily Le Soleil au Sénégal. In 1999, following a collaboration with the daily Le Soleil, she created the communication agency Abacom, which later became Chrysalide. She then realized a touristic project called coral pearls and the garden of coral beads.[2]

In 2013, she was appointed chairman of the board of Yaounde's convention center. She is a member of the Rassemblement Démocratique du Peuple Camerounais (RDPC). On May 8, 2013 she is a candidate for senatorial elections in Cameroon without being selected.

Family life

She is single and the mother of a little girl.[2]
