Amityville Record is an American Newspaper serving the area of Amityville, Suffolk County New York.[1] It is published weekly on Wednesdays and has a circulation of 1,299. [2]

History

Originally founded as The Dispatch in 1880 by H. De Languillette and Sidney M. Conklin[3], then renamed the Amityville Dispatch by Henry De Languillette in 1901[4]. In 1902, Moss K. P. Fuller, a wealthy Manhattan man, was accused of horsewhipping the paper's editor, Kennedy, over articles[5]

In 1904, Charles F. Delano bought the paper and renamed it Amityville Record.[6][7] The paper was originally located east of the first firehouse on Greene Avenue in Amityville. When a new fire headquarters was built, the newspaper moved into the original firehouse.[8] The Delano family owned the paper until 1972. Mrs. Florence Delano was an editor for her father's newspaper writing a weekly column called "Down the Road A Piece." [9]
