Additionally, he found that many of his childhood friends fell victim to a life of crime, drugs and unfortunate circumstances.

Upon leaving the Army, he was recruited and signed a contract to box professionally in Arizona.[3] Mesa Arizona boxing trainer Mack Walker, who was the relative of the 1976 Olympic teammate of Sugar Ray Leonard, Chuck Walker and trainer of several professional fighter was assigned to train Andre Anderson. His professional boxing career was short due to being struck by a vehicle and seriously injured while fixing a flat tire on Interstate 10.

Thereafter, he began his journey pursuing a career in law enforcement. Over his law enforcement career, he worked in many line level assignments as a patrol officer and detective, yet, the bulk of his experience was in leadership positions over numerous squads, units and commands while serving as a Glendale, Arizona Police Officer.  Major commands included the Criminal Investigations Divisions, Special Operations Division and Patrol. Anderson has served as University teacher on Multiculturalism, chaired the City of Glendale’s Diversity Committee, led numerous crime reduction plans, community policing plans and served as the Assistant to the National Organization of Black Law Enforcements Executives (N.O.B.L.E.) in 2017, Regional Vice President and Chapter President.  In his role as the assistant, he was assigned to address large scale community engagement plans. Travelling throughout United States, Anderson has met with community members and police leaders throughout the country.

In 2015 Andre Anderson was hired on an interim basis as the Ferguson, Missouri Police Chief[4]. His assignment was six months and he served as the chief for five months and for an additional two months as a consultant contract worker assisting Ferguson with the plans in place while part of the negotiating team working with the United States Department Justice.  While working in Ferguson as the Interim Police Chief, his specific assignment was to address civil unrest and community engagement which was accomplished during his tenure[5]. Anderson did not apply for the permanent position as he opted to return to Arizona to finalize his law enforcement career. However, he agreed to work short term as a consultant to aid with Ferguson's plans, by which he had drafted the initial community policing plans and training plans during his tenure.  Anderson agreed to assist with one condition and that condition was that the proceeds were to be provided to the Ferguson Youth Initiative. Upon returning to his prior police command role in Arizona, Andre Anderson worked on multiple projects to address race relations, expanding efforts to broaden the police perspective while also bridging community divide.  In 2018 his uniform and accomplished were installed in the National Law Enforcement Museum in Washington D.C[6]
