André Nollkaemper is professor of public international law and dean of the Faculty of Law at the University of Amsterdam, where he established Amsterdam Center for International Law[1]. Early life and careerHe received his phD from University of Utrecht with cum laude in 1993. He has LL.M from Erasmus University Rotterdam. Before he joined University of Amsterdam, he was a post doctoral researcher at Erasmus University Rotterdam. Academic careerHe has published in various areas of international law. His main research interests are international responsibility, the interfaces between international and national law, and international environmental law. Since 2010, he directs the project on 'Shared Responsibility in International Law' (SHARES), sponsored under an Advanced Investigator Grant by the European Research Council[2]. Under SHARES, he co-directs drafting of "Draft Principles on Shared Responsibility" with Jean d'Aspremont and Ilias Plakokefalos. He was elected as President of European Society of International Law in 2014 and served until 2017. He remains as a board member of European Society of International Law as of 2019. He is Editor-in-Chief of the Oxford Reports on International Law in Domestic Courts by Oxford University Press and of Book series on Shared Responsibility in International Law by Cambridge University Press.
