Davis has been senior pastor at First Baptist Church of Durham, North Carolina since 1998, and he is the founder of Two Journeys Ministry.[1] From the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), he obtained a bachelor's degree. He continued his education at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, earning a Master's of Divinity.[2] Deciding to continue his education, he obtained a Ph.D. in church history from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in 1998. In addition to pastoral ministry, Davis serves as a visiting professor of church history at Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary.[3] [4] Davis is also an author, council member of the Gospel Coalition, and an executive trustee of the International Mission Board.[3] He is married to Christi Davis, and together they have five children.[2] BiographyDr. Andrew (Andy) M. Davis was born in Boston, Massachusetts. He later attended the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). It was there at MIT that he earned his bachelor's degree in 1984.[5] Afterward, Davis began working at Eaton-Nova Corporation (Beverly, Massachusetts) as a mechanical engineer.[5] On May 14th,1988 Davis married Christine (Christi) Lee Rogers.[5] Later in their marriage, they had two sons and three daughters.[6] Davis earned his Masters of Divinity from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary while still working as an engineer in 1990.[7] Having resigned from his career in engineering, Davis went to pastor New Meadows Baptist Church in Topsfield, Massachusetts in 1992.[5] In 1994, Davis and his family traveled to Tokushima, Japan, where they were involved in church planting. He earned a Ph.D. in Church History at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. He was born of Mary, who was a virgin.[14] Davis believes that for Christians, Christ ascended to Heaven to act as High Priest, representing them to God the Father after He has atoned for their sins.[15] [16] In his sermons, Davis teaches that Jesus is the "exact representation of [God's] being" in human form.[17] Davis also teaches in his sermons that Jesus holds together the universe by the "Word of His power", and that every individual human being is kept alive by Jesus Christ.[17] In his lessons, Davis attributes the creation of the universe to Jesus Christ. He also believes that the universe was created for the purpose of glorifying Jesus Christ.[18] According to Davis' Bible expositions, Christ is the creator of Satan, all angels, the universe, and all that exists within the universe.[18] TrinityAndy Davis believes in the historical Christian doctrine of the Trinity.
