Since then, she has exhibited her work in various galleries and exhibitions. Her work is seen as a new way of looking at the concept of identity – which may be singular or multiple. Through her artwork, Dodiya depicts themes like violence, fear, insecurity, self-doubt, hysteria, spirituality, confusion and anxiety. She also expresses her take on art and the process of creation through the artist’s lens. She depicts the hysteria and madness of an artist struggling with the artistic process. She describes the process of creation as “do or die – the challenge of a blank page”.[6] Her work depicts a dream-like state that is both mysterious and intriguing. [7] Dodiya, as she describes herself, is the “heroine of the peripheral”, finding her way through the dramatic and grand narratives that are sometimes playful, sometimes temperamental sometimes painful and sometimes terrifyingly violent.
