Anna Khachiyan (born 1986) is a Russian-American blogger, podcaster, known for being a co-host of the podcast Red Scare with Dasha Nekrasova.

Biography

Early life

Anna Khachiyan was born in Moscow, USSR[1], in 1986, to parents Leonid Khachiyan and Olga Pischikova Reynberg.[2] In 1989 she emigrated to the United States with her parents and grew up in New Jersey.

She is of Armenian and Jewish descent. She studied Art History at Rutgers University, where she was an Honors Student and received the Quigley Award scholarship in 2006[3], and later went on to pursue a Master's degree in Art History in New York University[4]. In NYU she also pursued a Ph.D. in Soviet Architecture, before dropping out.

Career

Khachiyan is known for her cultural and political commentary. Along co-host Nekrasova and Meg Murnane, she created the podcast Red Scare, which discusses culture and politics.[5][6] The show has been associated with other leftist shows like Chapo Trap House and Cum Town. The show has featured guest appearances from several notable writers, artists, social commentators and leftist figures, including Angela Nagle, Juliana Huxtable and Amber A'lee Frost. As a critic she has been a guest in i24NEWS[7]

In November 2018 she was banned from Twitter after being reported along with Nekrasova, who was only suspended.
