Anthony R. Portesy is an American Lawyer and politician. He ran for Highway Superintendent under the Democratic and Working Family Party lines in 2017 in the Town of Brookhaven, a town in Eastern Suffolk County, New York. His motivation for entering that race was because he was tired of his town being treated like a cash machine for political insiders. In obtaining the most amount of votes for a Democratic candidate for Highway Superintendent in Brookhaven in almost 40 years, he helped spearhead a level of accountability that has been missing from the Town for almost 50 years. Anthony obtained his undergraduated degree in 2008 from SUNY Stony Brook University. He with a bachelor of science in the fields of Business Management, obtaining dual majors in the areas of finance and political science. Anthony went on to earn a law degree from New York Law school and is currently admitted to practice law before the Courts of the State of New York and New Jersey, as well as the federal district courts of the Eastern and Southern Districts of the State of New York. As an attorney, Anthony represents small businesses in all areas of commercial litigation and employment litigation including discrimination, retaliation, professional contracts, wage and hour matters, Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Family and Medical Leave Act, and other types of employment-based litigation and disputes including collective and class action litigation. Anthony also assists small businesses in all areas of compliance from employee handbooks and human resource management to apprise his clients of all updates in the field of employer-employee relations.
