He has run for positions in Virginia's House of Delegates and Prince George's County Maryland School Board. Early life, education and familyAnthony Triplin was born on April 1st, 1985 to Jerome and Shelia Triplin in Greensboro, North Carolina. He has three siblings, Jeronica Triplin, Jerome Triplin II, and Whitney Triplin. After graduating from high school, he joined the United States Navy in 2004 as a Personnel Specialist. He left the Navy in 2009 to study at Norfolk State University, graduating in 2011 with a bachelors of arts in Political Science. Triplin went on to join the Virginia National Guard in 2011 as an Assistant Operations Officer. While serving with the National Guard, Anthony earned his Masters of Business Administration from American Military University in 2013. After graduating with his MBA, he left the National Guard to begin working for the Executive Office of the President as a Budget Analyst under the Obama Administration in 2013. In 2019, Triplin was named the Chief Operations Officer for the Office of Indian Energy Policy and Programs in the United States Department of Energy.[1] Political careerState RepresentativeAnthony Triplin first ran for public office in 2009 in Virginia's 89th district for House of Delegates. He ran as an independent challenger against the incumbent, Kenny Alexander. Triplin lost this election gaining 30.6% of the vote.[2] County Board of EducationAnthony Triplin ran for public office a second time in 2018 as a nonpartisan candidate for the open seat in district 6 on the Prince George's County Board of Education in Maryland.[3]On June 26th, 2018, Triplin lost this election in the primary receiving 14% of the vote. [4] ActivismAnthony Triplin is known throughout the greater Washington DC metro area for his activism for education reform. As a mentor with Big Brothers Big Sisters, he promotes active community engagement among other politicians and the vital role of mentorship in communities. Personal LifeAnthony Triplin lives in Capital Heights, Maryland and is an active member in the Prince George's County Young Democrats[5] and the Washington DC Rotary Club[6].
