释义 |
Aquarium Nitrogen Cycle is basically breaking down of ammonia into relatively less harmful components. Aquarium nitrogen cycle is similar to that of nitrogen cycle where nitrogen is converted to many forms as it circulates atmosphere. Here, in Aquarium Nitrogen Cycle, The ammonia produced by dead plants, and fish waste are broken down by a colony of beneficial bacteria. This might sound strange, but bacteria are vital to the health of any aquarium water. Types of Aquarium Nitrogen Cycle There are two methods you can choose to cycle your aquarium. 1. Traditional Method Traditionally, hardy fish were used to cycle the tank. Fish like Zebra danios or guppies were used. These fish produce waster which is converted into ammonia, the bacteria feed on the ammonia and the cycling process starts. Since the tank is in its early stage, the beneficial bacteria are just beginning to propagate, this definitely risks a fish life so we don't recommend the traditional cycling process. 2. Fishless Cycling Method Fishless cycling method is the correct method of cycling the tank. As the name describes, there is no any fish involved while performing a fishless cycling process. So the most significant advantage over the traditional method is that it can reduce the risk of killing your fish and give you a good start. Fishless cycling methods: 1. Using Media from the already matured tank It helps by bringing in already established beneficial bacteria colony in your tank. 2. Using fish food Next alternative is to use fish food to decompose in the water and create ammonia from the decay particles. 3. Using Ammonia Ammonia can easily be found in any hardware shop in the form of water and ammonia solutions. You need to use ammonia test kit in this process to find the concentration of ammonia in the bucket. It requires 5mg/lt or 5ppm. References |
