BiographyPersonal lifeRabbi Ari Montanari, associate rabbi at Congregation Pirchei Shoshanim and he is the European director for Yeshiva Pirchei Shoshanim, and a talmudim of Rabbi Fishel Todd. He is a former Christian pastor of the Foursquare Rabbis Caucus.[1] This is an organization among Christian Jews in The Foursquare[2] Church[3]. He is one of the pioneers of this type of religious expression in Messianic Judaism before converting to Orthodox Judaism. He left the Foursquare Church after a personal study in the Jewish Bible that led him away from Christianity and brought him to Orthodox Judaism[4] through Rabbi David Becker, a US Army chaplain. Ari was also a former Christian military chaplain[5] captain with the U.S. Air Force in the California Air National Guard at March Air Reserve Base[6], endorsed also by the Foursquare Church. After his orthodox and Israeli recognized conversion he was a founder and pioneer with Rabbi Shaul Danyiel of Lions Den Beit Hamidrash[7], which helps Jews and non-Jews understand Torah and also works as a counter-missionary enterprise to help Jews combat missionary pressure to convert to Christianity. ControversyIn 2018 Captain Montanari's attorneys at First Liberty Institute filed a demand letter to the US Air Force and to the Civil Air Patrol[8] due to the fact he was rejected[9] reappointment as a Jewish chaplain[10]. Claiming religious discrimination[11], as one with a stellar career, his application had only one change which was a new endorsement by the orthodox endorser, Rabbi F. J. Todd. Chaplain Montanari received semicha and a new endorsement as a orthodox rabbi yet the US Air Force, and the Civil Air Patrol, both in desperate need for Jewish chaplains rejected this specific Jewish rabbi without cause[12]. Both issues are still open pending resolution[13] On September 12, 2018, First Liberty issued a demand letter requesting a resolution to the impending issue and questionable discrimination against him.
