Early lifeAsghar Sheikh Nasir was born in Undivided India in 1928. He studied at University of Cambridge UK and New York University, USA. He did Research Study for PhD at Massachusetts Institute of Technology in U.S.A. in the field of Industrial Planning and Economic Aspects. He is member of Professional Societies including Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers, Institute of Production Engineers UK, Institute of British Management and Economic Development Institute of USA. He has spent over twenty-five years on various Technical Aid Projects, supported by United Nations Development Programme as a Country Director and also as a member of project Evaluation Commission of World Bank. He has contributed numerous articles in different International Journals and presented papers at conferences on Technical, Economic and Social Issues, during his 25 years’ service, with the United Nations Development Programme. After retirement he was special consultant at Aachen University, in Germany Research Institute for International Techno Economic Cooperation. Adding to his experience, he represented UNDP Programme as Country Director in Ghana, Nigeria, Saudi Arabia, Zambia, Libya, Egypt, six North African countries from Morocco to Sudan, Indonesia, South Yemen, Sierra Leone, South Korea, Commonwealth of Dominica, Russia and United Arab Emirates.[1][2] Literary workHe is author of the following and other books publications:[3] 1. African Industrial Future. 9. The Phenomenon of Poverty & Bad Governance. Dr. Nasir is married to Anne, German national and he is now living in Pakistan after the absence of almost 45 years.
