}}Ashoke Pandit (born 11 May 1966) is an Indian filmmaker and social activist.[1][2] In the year 2015, he was elected as the Board Member of CBFC (The Central Board of Film Certification).[3]

Career

Ashoke Pandit Started of his career in theater doing plays for IPTA(Indian People’s Theatre Association)[4] followed by being an Associate Director to Kundan Shah, Aziz Mirza, Sudhir Mishra, in shows like Nukkad, Circus, Yeh Jo Hain Zindagi. Later in, he became independent as a Producer- Director with a super hit show called Filmi Chakkar[4] starring Satish Shah and Ratna Pathak Shah. Filmi Chakkar was followed by equally known shows like Tere Mere Sapne on Zee starring Aruna Irani, Irrfan Khan and the other big names in the television and the film world. The shows that follow in his repertoire proved to be success in their own accord and genre. Shows like Colgate Top 10. Thriller at 10, Hanste Khelte , Vilayati Babu, Mungerilal Series , Rishtey , Gubbare and Mukammal with Deepti Naval on Sahara Manoranjan were proving true to his quality deliverance. His every show proved to be full on entertainers with a deep social message. Ashoke Pandit Produced and Directed 13 films for Sony TV in association with Madhur Bhandarkar’s Bhandarkar Entertainment called Heroine- Zindagi ke Panno Se. The show garnered great reviews and awards for its efforts.

He released a documentary-- Village of Widows in 2010, based on Dardpura Village of Kashmir.[5]

Personal Life

Ashoke Pandit is married to classical-folk playback singer Neerja Pandit.

Associations

He is the President of IFTDA (Indian Film and Television Director's Association).[6] Earlier he has been the President from 2012-2015. In 2018 he got elected for the third term. He was the Vice President of IMPPA (Indian Motion Pictures Producers Association) in the period of 2015 to 2018 while currently, he is the Executive Committee member of IMPPA. He also serves as the Chief Advisor of FWICE (Federation of Western India Cine Employees).[7]
