{{COI|date=October 2018}} Ava Porter is an multidisciplinary artist who has worked as a photographer, installation artist, and experimental filmmaker. Over her career so far, she has uses her art to analyze the “overlooked influences and exploited bystanders of Western popular (entertainment, religious, and war) culture, vis-a-vis the history of aggression and theories of embodied cognition”.[1] To reinforce her content, she usually presents film and photographic works as large-scale installations, through which viewers must walk and therefore acknowledge their own physicality. She is also a 2015 Masters of Fine Arts (Visual Arts) recipient from the University of California, San Diego,[3] where she is currently a professor in the aforementioned department.[4] Her film work in Narcissister Organ Player has been screened in several national and international festivals including the 2018 South By Southwest (SXSW)[5] and Sundance film festivals[6] and her installations and photography have also been exhibited throughout Los Angeles, New York, and San Diego. Porter is currently in the post production phase of her latest ethnographic documentary feature, Wild Honey, which is set to be release sometime 2019.
