OverviewBAGELBOYZ is an American rap duo originating from Bageltown, New Hampshire, consisting of the rappers/producers Lil Toasty and Yung Bago. Their first EP, BREAD IS DEAD, YEAST OF EDEN, was released on September 4th, 2017 and their self-titled debut album was released exactly a year after on their bandcamp site. The majority of their songs are crafted around the idea of bagels, and the love for them. The counterpart, however, is how they express their distaste for bread in their songs. Bagel PraiseThey rap about bagels all day, all day, you'll say "Hey! Where's all the bagels?" Bread RivalryThe duo openly expresses their hate for bread within the songs, but never makes it clear why. The history started with four main people: Lil Toasty, Yung Bago, Lil A$iago, and Big Bread. Bagels and Bread used to live among each other in harmony. They had limited beef with each other and it was not uncommon for a bagel to help a bread brotha out or vice/versa. Before BAGELBOYZ was founded in 2016, they were just four friends making shitty music with each other. With all this time of practice under their belts, they all started making really fire beats and hard-ass raps. Lil A$iago, a fellow bagel, wanted to borrow some bread from Big Bread, the only bread in the group, to combine with the bagels and make the biggest, baddest raps of the century. Big Bread refused. Lil A$iago didn't have much of a clean past behind him. He's robbed banks and even killed some fuckas, but he was a good friend, and that's what mattered to Yung Bago and Lil Toasty. Lil A$iago was determined to get that bread, so one night, he snuck into Big Bread's apartment, and when Big Bread saw him he put bullets in his chest. Let it be known that Lil A$iago was unarmed when he broke into the apartment, and he would never think to hurt an acquaintance like Big Bread. The almost definite reason why Big Bread did this was because he saw Lil Toasty, Yung Bago, and Lil A$iago making beats unseen by anyone in the generation, and knew they would blow up without him. Once Big Bread got to court, he said it was for self defense, and the jury claimed innocent. To this day, Big Bread has blown up big time. He has millions of listeners on Spotify, and preformed at the VMAs 2018. It seemed as though everyone forgot about what had happened, but not Lil Toasty or Yung Bago. They never forgot nor would ever forget what had happened, so they dedicate many of their songs to demeaning bread. References |
