释义 |
The Baja Divide is a bikepacking route that traverses the length of Baja California Sur. The mapped route is 1700 miles [1], starting in San Diego, California and ending in La Paz, Mexico. It is a self-supported ride that is a test of self-reliance. The ride has no entry fees, no sponsorship, and no prizes. Challenges along the route include expanses of desert, mountains, and water crossings. There are great distances between opportunities to resupply, so riders must be prepared for mechanical failure or injury, and plan for sufficient water and food. Riders usually adopt a "bikepacking" style, carrying minimal equipment sufficient for camping. Due to the terrain, a bike with at least 3-inch times is suggested[2] HistoryThe Baja Divide was developed by Nicholas Carman and Lael Wilcox in the winter of 2015-2016 on two consecutive rides down the peninsula. [3]Due to the remote and backcountry nature of the ride, many riders carry SPOT Satellite Messenger tracking devices, allowing their progress to be monitored on websites. RecordsIn 2015, Wilcox set the women's record for the fastest time on the Baja Divide route. In 2017, she broke the men's record as well.[4] References1. ^{{cite web|url=http://www.bikepacking.com/routes/baja-divide/|title=Baja Divide BikePacking Route|accessdate=2018-07-18}} 2. ^{{cite web|url=https://www.adventurecycling.org/resources/blog/building-a-bike-for-the-baja-divide/|title=Building a Bike for the Baja Divide|accessdate=2018-07-16|date=2016-09-22}} 3. ^{{cite web|url=http://tourdivide.org/about|title=History|accessdate=2018-07-07}} 4. ^{{cite web|title=Lael Wilcox Establishes Baja Divide FKT in 11:13:02|url=https://gypsybytrade.wordpress.com/tag/lael-wilcox/|accessdate=2 February 2018|date=15 March 2017}} |
