Early LifeAn alumnus of Mayo College, Sharma completed his Mechanical Engineering and MBA (Marketing and Finance) from Rajasthan University.[2] CareerBalesh joined Vodafone (then Hutch) in 2003 and has held senior management positions in India and internationally. He headed circle operations, Service Delivery, Marketing, Commercial and Enterprise functions in his previous roles. He was the Business Head of Gujarat Circle from January 2006 to January 2011, Chairman and CEO of Vodafone Malta from February 2011 to November 2013; and CEO of Vodafone Czech Republic from January 2014 to March 2017. He returned to India in April 2017 to join Vodafone India as its Chief Operating Officer (COO) and was also a Director on the board of Vodafone India Ltd and a member of its Executive Committee. [2] Prior to joining telecom, Balesh gained sales experience in office automation with Xerox & Ricoh.[3][4] Balesh was announced as CEO designate Vodafone Idea Limited entity in April, 2018 [1]and took charge on 31 Aug 2018, with the merger between Vodafone India and Idea Cellular complete. [5]He is responsible for the combined business strategy and its execution as well as driving integration for Vodafone Idea Limited[3]. Personal LifeBalesh married Archana in 1992. They have two children Aabhas (25 yrs) and Anagat (19 yrs).
