Batbayar Chogsom (born 02 June 1974 in Ulaanbaatar) is a Swiss-Mongolian filmmaker. Life and careerBatbayar Chogsom was born and raised in Ulaanbaatar and migrated to Zürich (Switzerland) as a student in 2000. At the University of Zurich Chogsom studied Popular Culture Studies, Social and Cultural Anthropology as well as Political Science. He finished by achieving his Bachelor of Arts. The years after he worked as an archivist in the collection of graphics and historical photographs of the National Museum in Zurich. His first feature film Out of Paradise (2018), first shown at Solothurn Film Festival (SFT), won an award for Best Feature Film at the Shanghai International Film Festival (SIFF) the same year. One of the most read newspapers in Switzerland mentioned that Chogsom's success in China was the big "sensation" [1] within 2018 Swiss cinematography. The director lives with his family in the Swiss city of Rapperswil-Jona (Canton St. Gallen)[2]. Filmography
