Black lived in the Highlands for only his first year before living in Shropshire, Cheshire, and Germany during his childhood. The Black family settled in Nantwich, Cheshire and Ben attended and graduated Bishop Heber High School alongside Liverpool footballer Ben Woodburn and Sale Sharks rugby players Ben Curry and Tom Curry.
