Having toured the stage with his mum in 1959 and 1960, he proved he was equally at home in this genre with bookings at the Sydney Theatre Company in roles that ranged from light character parts to shakespearean dramatics, raking up roles in Three Sisters and The Lower Depths, and at the ensemble theatre as a hoo cast surviver A Shaya Maidel" . He was a man of humble graciousness which transcended to his audience, with a down to earth everyman folksy presence and a cheerful demeanour. He was married to opera singer Rhonney Webber, wife Doreen and daughter Laura, that survived him after his passing on ANZAC DAY in 2012, a true legend of the industry at 94.[3]
