Ben Rowswell (born August 12th, 1970) is a former Canadian Ambassador. EducationRowswell attended Nepean high-school in his native Ottawa. After attending Georgetown University School of Foreign Service, Rowswell attended Oxford and Stanford University. Diplomatic careerRowswell was subsequently posted as a Canadian diplomat in Egypt 1996-1998 and Iraq 2003-2005, Deputy Head of Mission in Afghanistan 2008-2010, and Ambassador in Venezuela 2014-2017.[1] Mobile appAlong with his former colleague and friend Farhaan Ladhani, the two men co-founded a web-based mobile app called Betterplace with the desire to crowd-source civic action. The two currently work at the startup full-time located in Toronto, Canada, where Rowswell currently resides with his family.
