Bequia Beach Hotel is a luxury beach front hotel located in Friendship Bay on the island of Bequia in St Vincent & the Grenadines. The family owned hotel[2] offers 57 rooms including Junior Plantation & Beachfront Suites, two restaurants, private villas, Spa & Gym. Bequia Beach Hotel is part of the BM Resorts group; responsible for hotel development & ownership, service & operations, additional properties include Grenadine House, Jack's Beach Bar & luxury villa developments. Known as a discrete haven in the Caribbean[3], Bequia is a popular Superyacht destination and a favourite amongst Mustique homeowners & celebrities[4] such as Mick Jagger[5], Bill Gates, Jude Law[6], Catherine Zeta-Jones, Michael Douglas[7]. Guests have included Beatles biographer Hunter Davies[8][9][10][11] and Celebrity TV Chef Anthony Bourdain stayed as part of his 'Caribbean Island hopping' episode of TV series 'No Reservations'. HistoryBequia Beach Hotel first opened in 2009 after Swede [12][13] Bengt Mortstedt[14] initially set out to build a family plantation style villa on the beach in Friendship Bay[15]. In 2004 he purchased the Bequia Beach Club and Bed & Breakfast Blue Tropic Hotel with the new intention of building a resort not a villa.[16] In 2006 Mortstedt also purchased and renovated the 18-room hotel Roy's Inn in Kingstown, re-opening it as Grenadine House. The building originally known as 'The Great House'[17] was built in 1765 as the private residence to the British Administrator in Saint Vincent. Bequia Beach Hotel is the only privately owned[18] and managed hotel to have been built in the West Indies for more than ten years[19]. FeaturesSet in 10 acres of grounds[20], on the mile-long beach at Friendship Bay, the hotel's design & architecture is inspired by Oliver Messel's villas[21] in Barbados & island neighbour Mustique with interiors portraying a modern colonial elegance of a bygone era. LocationThe island of Bequia is served by J. F. Mitchell Airport in Bequia. Local airlines such as SVG Air, Mustique Airways, Grenadine Airways all serve Bequia. Regularly scheduled ferries run from the main island of Kingstown, Saint Vincent to Bequia's capital Port Elizabeth, connecting tourists arriving at the new international airport Argyle International Airport.
