}}Brad Spelich (born in Spring Valley, Illinois) is an American radio personality, and journalist currently working as an on-air host for 99.3 WAJK.[1], 96.5 The Wolf (WLWF), as well as Classic Hits 103.9 WLPO [2]. Spelich also serves as a contributor to The NewsTribune. [3]

Bio

Spelich was born in the Illinois Valley and lived in several states growing up, including Illinois, Arkansas, South Carolina, West Virginia and Ohio. Upon graduating high school in 2005, attended Case Western Reserve University, where he graduated in 2010 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology. He later attended Syracuse University and the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications where he obtained a Master of Science degree in Broadcast and Digital Journalism in 2015.[4]

Early Career

During his time at Syracuse University, Spelich contributed through reporting efforts to several news outlets including WAER 88.3. [5] In the Fall of 2014, he would host “Extended Jam Break,” a live-music and talk-focused show on WERW. The following Spring, Spelich produced and hosted “Spotlight on Westcott,” an interview-based show that focused on notable residents of Syracuse, New York.[6]

In the Summer of 2015, Spelich received an internship with WAMU, a National Public Radio affiliate in Washington, D.C. While at WAMU, Spelich covered a variety of topics ranging from avian flu [7] to high school students using art to change a culture of violence in a Baltimore, Maryland neighborhood, a story that was featured on the station’s show “Metro Connection” [8].

LaSalle County Broadcasting

After graduation in 2015, Spelich would join the newsroom at LaSalle County Broadcasting in November as an afternoon news anchor and reporter for Classic Hits 103.9 WLPO. [9]. He held that position through all of 2016 before joining Judi Diamond in early 2017 as the news anchor for “Judi Diamond on 99.3 WAJK” [4] .

After Diamond’s departure, Spelich was given a bigger role in the newly launched “J.R. and Brad” on WAJK in mid-2017. Less than a year later, Zears would leave for Topeka, Kansas and open the door for a new Co-host for Spelich, forming the current show of “Brad and Jaimie” on 99.3 WAJK[10]

Spelich also serves on-air as a host in the afternoons on 96.5 The Wolf WLWF and mid-days on Classic Hits 103.9 WLPO.
