Bradva.bg (Bulgarian : Брадва, translated in English as Axe) is an independent online news portal in Bulgaria. The media's headquarters are based in Sofia, the capital city of Bulgaria.

History and profile

The news website was founded as a platform for political analyses of prominent local journalists on February 12th 2012 by it's present editor in chief Peter Papakotchev and has grown to become one of the leading news and lifestyle information providers in the country, ranking 83rd among all websites in Bulgaria according to [https://www.alexa.com/siteinfo/bradva.bg Alexa Rank].[1] and being among the top 50 most popular news websites in the country[2] . As of March 2019 the news platform has over 223 000 followers in [https://www.facebook.com/Bradva.bg/ Bradva.bg] Facebook [3], serving millions of impressions every month to hundreds of thousands of readers in Bulgaria and to the Bulgarian Expat society around the globe. Bradva.bg gained popularity through diversified topic mixture and light approach, however the media also follows and discusses serious social issues and local scandals, along with the implementation of women rights and protection[4] . Along with up to date local and international current events, the media publishes entertaining reading with sections dedicated to women, health, cooking, travel, astrology and mysticism.

As of December 2012 the news platform is owned by Novuz Media Ltd. based in Sofia, Bulgaria

Controversy

Some Bulgarian publishers accused the editors of Bradva.bg for publishing loud and catchy titles [5][6],in relation to the presence of articles, related to extraterrestrial and other conspiracies. The conspiracy and mysticism section contains numerous such articles, which caused the confusion of certain journalists, who follow such content, which circulates the web, while creating stress among readers.[7]
