释义 |
Brittany French is the form of French spoken in Brittany. It is mainly influenced by Breton to the west and Gallo to the east, however it should not be confused with the latter. PronunciationStress is often put on the second-to-last syllable as in Breton. Certain sounds are muffled, notably at the end of sentences and those such as /bl/ or /dr/ becoming /b/. In this way, the word impossible would be pronounced \\ɛ̃posip\\ and the word Irlandaise would be pronounced \\irlɑ̃dɛs\\. Certain words are pronounced differently than Standard French, such as couenne or poêle which would be pronounced /kwɛn/ and /pwɛl/ respectively. SyntaxThe order of words can be similar to that of Breton. Therefore, the sentence Elle est grande could be said as Grande qu'elle est if one emphasizes the adjective or C'est est qui est grande/C'est elle qu'est grande if one emphasizes the subject. VocabularyThe following are examples of the Brittany French word, followed by the Standard French word and corresponding English translation.
