Broberg Castle (Swedish: Broberg borg), is a ruined castle in central Bohuslän, Sweden. It is assumed that the castle was erected in the late 1100s by King Sverre Sigurdsson, when the area was under Norwegian rule.

Broberg has had at least four floors, and has been built of red granite with carved building details in Romanesque style. The tower has an almost square floor plan and an area of ​​over 70 m².

Bishop Jens Nilssøn.

During his journey in the area in 1594, Bishop in Oslo and Hamar Jens Nilsson visited the castle. He tells in his diary that the castle should have been a seat farm (herresete) and he describes the ruin and the tombs "where they kept their treasures and treasures for pirates and fire".

In the 16th century, the Broberg seat farm that were on the plateau and is documented on a map from 1719, have been Erik Rosenkrantz sete farm. The farm was managed by the bailiff (fogden) Povel Nilsson Nøring.

Excavations.

In 1967, a limited excavation was carried out in some ruins and a finger ring of gold was found. The ring is interpreted as a "bishop ring" which has certain similarities to ring found on Gardar in Greenland. The ring is dated to the 13th century.

In the 1970s, archaeological excavations leading to various discoveries was carried out: Coin finds from the 11th-12th century - and an English coin (Henry II: 1154-89).

Bone residues from livestock such as, sheep, goose, Legs from reef, pigeon hay, herring and cod was found as well.
