Brownwashing often comes in the form of companies creating partnerships with value-based organizations such as NGOs, providing pro-bono services or sitting on their Board of Directors, while at the same time conducting activities that are contrary to the aims of these organizations. By partnering with value-based organizations, companies can build up their brand and reputation, piggybacking on the value-based organizations positive image in the wider society.
