Business Of Dreams is an American indie-pop project by Corey Cunningham.

History

Cunningham moved to San Francisco, California from Tennessee as a teenager..[1] in 2000 where he formed the bands Belleatec (with future Bonde do Rolê member Rodrigo Gorky)[2], The Cosmos[3], Magic Bullets[4], and Terry Malts[5]

While in San Francisco, Cunningham also started a reissue label in 2012 distributed by Captured Tracks called Body Double with Real Estate (band) member Matt Kallman, who had also played in Magic Bullets.[6] The label released music by Blissed Out Fatalists (featuring Jeff Poe from Blum & Poe), Half Church, Philip Perkins, and Tom Diabo.

Cunningham moved to Los Angeles in 2013 while continuing to play in Terry Malts. That same year he released the solo 7" Is It Really Really Real? via Loglady Records under the name Corey.

After being asked to open for Real Estate (band) and Kevin Morby on a west coast tour in 2014[7], Cunningham released a second single as a cassingle under the Corey moniker titled Down Again that featured a radically reworked cover of "New Rose" The Damned (band).[8]

When his father unexpectedly passed away in 2015, Cunningham started work on a cathartic new home recording project he would call Business Of Dreams.[9]

The resulting album would take cues from the more electronic side of indie-pop[10] and would initially see release as a cassette on Cunningham's own Parked In Hell imprint in March of 2017.[11] Kocliko Records of Spain would re-release the album on vinyl in June of 2017.[12]

The album landed on Bandcamp's Top 100 Albums Of 2017 at #21[13] and on Nerdist News The 25 Best Underground Albums Of 2017[14]
