The only way for him to turn back into Mr. Krupp is to have water touch his head. In the third book, he drinks "Extra-Strength Super Power Juice" and gains super powers. The name "Captain Underpants" was coined by Pilkey when he was in the second grade. He made a comic about Captain Underpants, which his teacher ripped up. Since then, Pilkey has written 12 novels, 7 full-color novels, 3 graphic novels spin-offs, and 7 full-color graphic novel spin-offs, the latest being Dog Man: For Whom The Ball Rolls, which will come out in August 2019. As of August 2013, the series is being published in full color by José Garibaldi. Fictional Origin and progressThe Adventures of Captain Underpants-Captain Underpants and the Attack of the Talking Toilets: George Beard and Harold Hutchins (4th graders at Jerome Horwitz Elementary) have been recently pulling off some pranks at the Horwitz Knuckleheads football game. Mr. Krupp blackmails them into becoming his servants. George and Harold hypnotize him with the "3-D Hypno Ring" into becoming Captain Underpants, one of their comic-book heroes. However, Mr. Krupp thinks he really is Captain Underpants and jumps out the window to fight crime. Some of his early villains include Dr. Diaper, the Turbo-Toilet 2000, and the latter's army of Talking Toilets (though it is noted that while Captain Underpants takes the credit, George and Harold actually defeat these villains) Captain Underpants and the Invasion of the Incredibly Naughty Cafeteria Ladies From Outer Space…: Captain Underpants drinks "Extra-Strength Super Power Juice" and gains superhuman abilities in order to defeat a giant living dandelion. Captain Underpants and the Perilous Plot of Professor Poopypants: Captain Underpants meets Professor Poopypants and is grown into a giant using Poopypants' "Goosy-Grow 4000". He is shrunk back into normal size using the "Shrinky-Pig 2000", also an invention of Poopypants. Captain Underpants and the Wrath of the Wicked Wedgie Woman: Captain Underpants learns of his origin. Captain Underpants and the Big, Bad Battle of the Bionic Booger Boy-Captain Underpants and the Terrifying Return of Tippy Tinkletrousers: Captain Underpants defeats more villains with George, Harold, and their pets, Crackers and Sulu. Captain Underpants and the Terrifying Return of Tippy Tinkletrousers-Captain Underpants and the Sensational Saga of Sir Stinks-A-Lot: Captain Underpants, George, Harold, Crackers, and Sulu go on time-traveling adventures (defeating more villains along the way).
