General Fausone graduated from the University of Michigan School of Nursing in 1975 and in 1977 received her commission in the United States Air Force as a medical officer. She served on active duty in various nursing positions and in late 1981 transferred to the Michigan Air National Guard. In 1983 and 1995, she completed a Master of Science in Administration and a Master of Science in Nursing from Madonna University in Livonia, Michigan. In her capacity as the Assistant for Mobilization and Reserve Affairs from 2001-20015, she worked directly with the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Health Affairs, Force Health Protection and Readiness. She assisted in developing and implementing programs, policy, and operations for Reserve Affairs. Brigadier General Carol Ann Fausone (ret.) served her country for 36 years from 1977-2011. During 2003-2011 she served as the Assistant Adjutant General of Veterans Affairs for the Department of Military and Veterans Affairs, State of Michigan advocating for Veterans. General Fausone continues serving by “Taking Care of Our American Heroes and their Families.” She currently owns The Veteran Advocate, a Service -Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOB), that assists veterans with health care, claims, housing and education challenges. In her role at Legal Help for Veterans, PLLC, a veteran disability law firm representing over 1400 clients, she assists veterans in obtaining their disability benefits.
