Cat Roberts (born Catherine Celeste Teed in Phoenix, Arizona) is an American actress, film producer, and physician.

Education

Dr. Roberts graduated summa cum laude from Arizona State University with a B.S. in Zoology [1][2]. She earned her M.D. from the University of Arizona College of Medicine[3]. She is Board Certified in both Radiology and Clinical Informatics[1][5]. Dr. Roberts has over 100 publications in the scientific literature that have been cited over 2000 times[6][2].

Family

Dr. Roberts has several notable family members[8].

  • Her earliest American ancestor, being her 10th great grandfather, was Stephen Hopkins a Pilgrim that sailed on the original Mayflower voyage in 1620 and helped establish Plymouth Colony[9]. Her ancestry is certified through the General Society of Mayflower Descendants (General #77140, Arizona State #1019).
  • Her second cousin three times removed was Cyrus Teed, a religious leader. The last of his established communes became the Koreshan State Historic Site in Florida[10].
  • Her first cousin twice removed was Ross E. Rowell, a highly decorated Marine Lieutenant General buried in Arlington National Cemetery[11].
  • Her third cousin twice removed was Douglas Arthur Teed, an American painter[12].
  • By marriage, she is a first cousin three times removed to Herman Ridder, an influential publisher who’s work lead to the establishment of Knight Ridder, a media company that was at one time the largest U.S. newspaper publisher[13].

Career

Dr. Roberts made her acting debut in Star Trek Continues where she reprised the classic 1960’s Star Trek role of Lieutenant Palmer who was originally portrayed by Elizabeth Rogers.[15] Dr. Roberts made her first appearance in the third Star Trek Continues episode, “Fairest of Them All”, where she had a non-speaking role.[16]She appeared as Lt. Palmer in all but one of the remaining episodes, with her role progressively expanding and becoming a core part of the cast.[17]

It was her role in Star Trek Continues that caught the attention of the producers of The Red Shirt Diaries, who invited her to play another classic Star Trek character, Yeoman Janice Rand initially portrayed by Grace Lee Whitney.[18]

Dr. Roberts then went on to play Janice Rand again in both The Federation Files and an unreleased episode of Star Trek New Voyages: Phase II. Dr. Roberts also reprised the role of Seven of Nine, initially portrayed by Jeri Ryan in Star Trek: Voyager, in a bonus scene of Raven: Voyager Continues, which was later renamed Starship Prometheus[20]. Dr. Roberts was finalist for “Best Supporting Actor or Actress” in the Treklanta 2017 Independent Star Trek Fan Film Awards “Bjo Awards” for her performance as Lt. Palmer[21].

Due to her Star Trek roles, Dr. Roberts has been an invited guest at many comic conventions. At Salt Lake Comic Con 2016, she was part of the “Guests of Star Trek” group that included William Shatner, who first portayed Captain James T. Kirk[22]. She was part of the featured cast members who appeared at the Star Trek Continues Episode 4 Screening at the Star Trek Las Vegas 2015 Convention[23]. She was also a guest at Stan Lee’s 2015 Comikaze Expo[24], Condor Con XXII 2016 convention[25], and Phoenix Comicon 2017 convention[26]. She was a featured program panelist at the Gallifrey One conventions in 2016 and 2018[27][28].
