As time passed, Prickly got tired of recess and has attempted to have children spend more time in the classroom, but in the film School's Out, he wants to preserve recess and summer vacation. Throughout the series, Prickly has had a rivalry with T.J. since T.J. frequently challenges Prickly's school rules and plays pranks on him. After Benedict was fired, Muriel developed a very spiteful, aggressive attitude. She is very strict and will punish students for any infraction, for as simple as not covering the mouth when yawning, to more serious offenses. Randall often helps Miss Finster in finding students who break her rules. She is especially harsh towards T.J. and his friends due to their trouble making antics. However, she does not always intervene in issues going on among the students, such as rebellions against rules King Bob puts in place. Despite her cynical nature, she does care about the students and wants them to be safe, and has friends outside her job.

Miss Grotke (voiced by Allyce Beasley) is a fourth grade teacher at Third Street and the teacher of T.J. and his friends. She is very kind and cares greatly for her students. Unlike Prickly and Finster, Miss Grotke is not very strict and believes free time is important for the development of her students. She is very positive and is usually in a good mood. Despite her peaceful demeanor, she has very strong left-leaning beliefs. Miss Grotke is an advocate for the environment and often incorporates global warming and electric cars in her lessons. For instance, they may serve highly acidic tomato soup which Gretchen has used to melt the hinges and knob of a door. The lunch ladies are led by Irma (voiced by Tress MacNeille). The other lunch ladies include Harriet (voiced by Andrea Martin) and Ethel.

Film Characters

Dr. Phillium Benedict (voiced by James Woods) was the former principal of Third Street and former best friend of Prickly and Miss Finster's ex boyfriend. He despises recess and the fact of children having any free time. He believes that since countries like Canada, Iceland, and Norway have high scores due to the cold climate, that if he can put the entire Earth into an ice age, then recess and summer vacation would end and test scores would rise. The rise of test scores would potentially cause people to praise Benedict and may even elect him as president of the United States. He only appeared in School's Out where he and a group of mercenaries and scientists broke into a top secret facility and steal information on tractor beams, planning on using a tractor beam to change the Moon's orbit around the Earth, and Benedict plans to have the experiment done when the moon is at its closest to the Earth and for the beam to be located at Third Street Elementary. His plan ultimately fails due to the intervention of the students and the faculty of Third Street and Benedict and his people are arrested for their crimes.
