Chess In Action is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded in March 2018 in order to foster the growth of chess in the Greater Houston Area. It was founded by teenagers Jason Wang and Justin Wang (an IM-Elect as of December 2018) in 2017. Their mission is to promote chess as an intellectual game to enrich the lives of all people in the community, especially increasing chess opportunities for underprivileged populations.

The organization's goals are (according to its website):

Provide underprivileged children free access to (and training for) the game of chess
Promote chess for children with learning disabilities.
Develop our volunteer groups to bring chess to after-school facilities.

Chess in Action has worked with organizations such as local schools, Krause Children's Residential, Everyday Opportunities to promote chess through tournaments, free seminars and free chess lessons and tutoring.
