It is jointly organised as an initiative of Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation Ltd.Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation Ltd. and Sarangkheda Committee. During the festival, various horse related activities are held like horse race, horse dance show, obstacle race, horse buggy ride, etc History and LocationLocated in the Nandurbar district, 397 kilometers from Mumbai, Sarangkheda was the hub for horse trading for centuries together. In the past, the fair has attracted horse trades and buyers from distant areas of India and as far as Balochistan and Arabia. This tradition of horse trading fair has been going on since recorded in history over 300[1] years ago. Legend has it, that Maratha ruler, Chhatrapati Shivaji used to procure his horses from here for his army. With its close proximity to the Tapi river, the location happened to be an excellent choice for animals that needed to be cared for during the fair.
