Early life and careerBorn on September 13, 1993 in St. Louis, Missouri, U.S, Darrel Gregory Jackson was orphaned as a child before he was adopted by Ralph and Clara Jackson. He attended Cardinal Ritter College Prep High School after taking piano lessons for 9 years. As a teen, he began playing for local churches to develop his skills before he was introduced to music creation software FL Studio. Upon dropping out after freshman year at Robert Morris University, he turned his focus to hip hop production following his meeting with Johnny May Cash who introduced him to Young Chop. ChopSquad DJ began to ghost produce for Young Chop under his brand through the partnership with Warner/Chappell Music while establishing relationships with various artistes. Through his travels, he started building a relationship with Chief Keef, who eventually dubbed his professional name "ChopSquad DJ" after the release of his 2015 mixtape Sorry 4 the Weight in which he produced most of the records thereby boosting his career and bringing him into the mainstream hip hop scene.[3] On 15 November 2015, ChopSquad DJ released his first official collaborative project titled Forever ChopSquad.[4] Released as a follow up to the GLOTF mixtape which never materialized, the 11-track mixtape is a compilation of songs from Lil Durk, Chief Keef, Young Thug, Gucci Mane and Migos.[5][6] In 2016, ChopSquad DJ featured vocals on the song "Fool With It" off Young Chop's debut studio album King Chop before he went on to produce two songs from Lil Durk's critically acclaimed Lil Durk 2X[7] which peaked at #5 and #29 on Billboard{{'}}s Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums and Billboard 200 respectively.[8][9] Discography
