Chord Electronics LTD is a multi award winning audio engineering company formed in 1989 and, who are based in England. They are located at and operate from, an old pumphouse in Farleigh Maidstone. They specialize in DAC’s, Digital to Analogue converters and Amplifiers. Although a relatively small company, they are widely known for making some of the best audio related products on the market. John Franks and Rob Watts are the main figures behind Chord Electronics, John Franks is the CEO and Rob Watts is an outside audio consultant connected to and collaborating with Chord in designing and implementing his work of PCB design and, the critical software that is at the heart of all of Chord Electronic’s DAC’s, the WTA Filter. Until very recently, they were relatively unknown outside the music hardware industry, but were already well known in recording studio’s, specifically Abbey Road and the BBC and other well known companies who use their products. It wasn’t until they designed, built and released two products that brought them to the attention of the general public. Those products were Chord Hugo DAC & Amp and Chord Mojo DAC & Amp. Both Chord Hugo and Chord Mojo are portable DAC’s, both of which gained Chord widespread acclaim. Both were awarded multiple awards for their excellent design and sound quality.
