Christine Mathys Award

In honour of Christine Mathys and her passion for fashion, the Dries Van Noten Fashion Brand awards the prestigious yearly award including prize-money worth € 2,500 to support the collection that shows this passion the most, students who share the same passion for fashion as Mathys once did are suitable for the award.^[2] The award is presented annually by Dries Van Noten himself.^[3]

• 2006: Heaven Tanudiredja attended the Royal Academy of Antwerp and majored in women's clothing, where he won the Christine Mathys Award.^[4][5]
• 2010: Terumasa Nakajima^[6]
• 2012: Manon Kundig (Switzerland): a master student at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts, Antwerp, won during the annual end of year fashion show, for her collection titled Bowerbird.^[7]
• 2013: Raffaela Graspointer: Austrian third-year student at the academy won the prize for her collection 'Razzle Dazzle Panda Puzzle', inspired by a photo of Maximilian Shumlin mixed with African influences.^[8][9]

• In 2010, during an interview, Van Noten was asked about his 'biggest loss'; the answer: "The death of my business partner and co-founder of the company, Christine Mathys".^[12]
• The website Quizlet mention Christine Mathys in one of their three possible quiz questions about the fashion brand in their 'designers' section, as the business partner of Dries Van Noten.^[13]
• In 2018 the fashion brand Dries Van Noten sold a majority stake to the Italian luxury conglomerate Puig (Carolina Herrera, Jean Paul Gaultier, Nina Ricci and Paco Rabanne). The fashion brand was estimated at € 85,000,000 ($ 100,000,000). Although Van Noten is still an 'important minority shareholder', he nevertheless received an estimated € 35,619,000.^[14][15][16]
