Dr Christine Smith (DVM DipACVS) is a Registered Specialist in Equine Surgery and the Managing Director at Agnes Banks Equine Clinic in the Hawkesbury region of New South Wales.[1] Christine graduated from Ontario Veterinary College in 1995 and in the following year completed her internship in Texas A&M with Large Animal Medicine and Surgery. Over the next three years, Christine completed her equine surgery residency at UC Davis and then became a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons in 2000. Up until 2003, Christine was a staff clinician at UC Davis. Her next career step involved relocating to Australia where she joined the University Veterinary Teaching Hospital, Camden (formerly UVCC) at the University of Sydney. Christine is a current staff member at Sydney University in the Equine Research faculty.[2] At the 5th International Large Animal Emergency Rescue Conference, Christine introduced the topic of large animal rescue training[3]and rescue techniques[4] and through allegiance with Fire & Rescue NSW, over 250 veterinarians completed the training by 2016. Her career experience also includes being a Current Dynamic Syndications Veterinarian in the horse racing industry.[5]

Christine has a focus on equine lameness[6] and poor performance that includes investigations into degenerative joint disease[7] and offers general guidance about health signs for horse owners to look out for.[8] Christine is also focused on equine respiratory disease and diagnostic techniques[9] and management of other diseases in horses.[10] In previous years, Christine was the president of the Equine Veterinarians Australia (EVA). In 2016, Dr Christine Smith received the Meritorious Service Award from the Australian Veterinary Association. [11] She is a member of the education sub-committee of Equine Veterinarians Australia.[12]
