Claire de Lune (born in Edinburgh) is a contemporary ceramic artist and is one of four ‘makers’[1]on the 6-part 2018 BBC Two Series Made In Great Britain.[2] During the filming of [https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b0bpz2qb Made in Great Britain], Claire found out she is descended from the historic Staffordshire pottery line: The Adams family[3], who have worked in clay since the 1400s.[4][5][6] It was during a conversation with her grandmother that she first learned that her family were involved in ceramics, but she did not know how far back the connection went. Claire's great grandfather (who she learned moved as a boy from Stoke-on-Trent to kilmarnock to work at the Armitage Shanks porcelain factory) and great Uncle were the last two members of her immediate family to work in the potteries. Claire de Lune graduated from Intermedia at Edinburgh College of Art in 2012, and moved to Glasgow, London then Berlin. It was during her time in berlin that she discovered a love for clay, and has been working with the medium ever since. After learning that her connection to clay goes back centuries, she feels that "I really do have clay in my blood"[7]. Claire lives and works in Margate[8], Kent, hand building figurative sculptures and homeware from porcelain clay, and black clays.
