Is it about the fish, or about efforts in general to conserve the fish, or any particular effort to conserve the fish? A Wikipedia article should have one subject.

The Colorado River Cutthroat Trout (CRCT) have a history that goes back over many centuries. Over the last 200 hundred years the CRCT have been over fished, hybridized, predated and basically just neglected. In the just the last 20 to 30 years has the species been getting the attention it needs to insure its survival. These beautiful creatures only live in 11% of its historical habitat according to a 2010 study by the Colorado Department of Parks and Wildlife. The recent study done in 2010 in review of the Colorado River Cutthroat Trout habitat has shown that the reintroduction and stocking of the fish, along with other strategies, are working to increase populations across the state. The fish are being sourced from 12 brood stock locations in Colorado that contain genetically pure Colorado River Cutthroat Trout, these fish are used to stock new and existing watersheds to expand the populations in 49 streams and 23 lakes. This effort is consistent with the strategies of the CPW to restore and preserve the Colorado Cutthroat Trout populations throughout its current range. Additional conservation steps such as creating barriers to decrease the risk of incursion by non-native fishes and reduce hybridization. While these strategies are in place and appear to help protect the cutthroat from extirpation, the current population is very low, almost 90% of its habitat has already been decimated to the point the fish have been eradicated in some of its historic range. The current efforts of the CPW have been proven to be successful so far, it is a long road to reach the goal of restoring these fish across the entire historic range, however, the success to this point shows it can be done.
